Mobile Phones
-
Pupils are not allowed to keep phones in their bags or about their person or use their phones during the school day. Pupils who ignore this rule face serious consequences, including confiscation of the phone which may then have to be collected on their behalf by a responsible adult.
-
If a pupil brings a mobile phone to school, then they must turn it off as soon as they are on the school premises and then take it with them to their form room where it must be left in the box provided for their form. The box will be sent over to the school office at the end of form time where it will remain during the school day. At the end of the school day, if pupils are being taught in their form class, the box will be brought to the classroom they are in and they can retrieve their phone. If pupils are being taught in a set in the last lesson of the day, the box for their form will be left on the covered walkway. They must not turn their phone on until they have left the school premises.
-
The school reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to withdraw permission for a child to bring a phone to school.
-
Pupils bringing mobile phones to school do so at their own risk and the school will not take responsibility or accept any liability for their loss or damage - this includes theft or accidental damage. All phones MUST be visibly named either on the phone itself or on a cover which remains on the phone while it is on school premises. It is strongly advised that phone screens should be protected from scratching or cracking when stored in the boxes by having a cover or being placed in a bag/envelope or similar protective covering.
