Year 7 basketball tournament
In the tournament held at GIA on 15th November, our boys’ team started against one of the strongest teams in the tournament and competed well but couldn’t find the win, although scoring some good points in the match. After a break to rest and watch other schools competing, the GIA boys had two games back to back which was always going to be a test of fitness and resilience. In the first game they battled hard against Houstone School, the eventual tournament winners, but couldn’t find enough points to win the game. They were then straight into another tough game where they scored some great points. They finished fourth, and showed great resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Our girls began the tournament winning a very even game which could have gone either way. After a break to watch other teams, the girls, in a similar fashion to the boys, had two games back to back where they really showed off their skills, scoring loads of points in both matches. Sophie B played a number of amazing passes into the forward players to score countless times. After winning the first of the two matches, the girls were edged out in the final close game.by 2 points. They placed second overall in the tournament and qualify for the county finals!! The girls showed great teamwork, sportsmanship and strength throughout.
Well done all.
