Admissions

We are a middle school with pupils in Years 5 to 8.
Children transfer to middle school at the beginning of their Year 5 school year.
When children in the Leighton Buzzard area are in Year 4, their parents are invited to attend our open evening and/or open days which are held in the autumn term. Parents who are unable to attend the open evening or open days, or those who did but simply wish to visit us again, are very welcome to make an appointment with our headteacher to visit us at another suitable time. They will have the opportunity to visit the school, talk to our head teacher and teaching staff and see children working in their lessons.
Central Bedfordshire Council deals with the admissions process for our Year 5 intake. Your child’s lower school will give you all the information you need to apply for a place at middle school, including information about the date by which you must do this and the date when you will hear at which school your child has been offered a place. Applications can be made in writing or online.
Central Bedfordshire Council then tell us which pupils are to transfer to our school. During the summer term our Year 5 teachers visit lower schools to meet those pupils and gain as much information as possible about them.
In July those pupils visit our school for two days to meet their new classmates and work with their new form teachers. Some weeks before this, we send you via email a welcome letter, information booklet and link to an admission form which you must complete for us.
Parents are also invited to attend an information evening at our school held on the first new intake day.
A few weeks after your child becomes a pupil at our school, their Year 4 teacher will meet with their Year 5 teacher to monitor their transfer from lower to middle school and ensure your child is settling in and enjoying life at our school.
In Year Admissions
If you wish your child to transfer to our school during the school year (called an “in year admission”) then you must contact our admissions officer directly as we deal with in year admissions ourselves.
